Seeking a full time veterinarian for a high volume, 5-doctor mixed animal practice in Bedford, Virginia. Our practice sits below the beautiful Peaks and of Otter and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We currently have 4 very experienced mixed animal practitioners and would love to add a strong small animal veterinarian. There is one LVT on staff and two in training. Mixed animal practitioners are welcome to apply but large animal work will be limited. Weekend work would be limited or negotiable. After hours work is also negotiable. Extensive benefits package is available along with a competitive salary. Salary is not based on production. We have in house blood-work, digital xray, and an ultrasound. Our doctors love to collaborate on cases with each other and we host senior vet student externs on a regular basis. Our practice prides itself on the level of care we offer at an affordable price.
Quality of life is excellent in our small town with unlimited outdoor activities available. We sit between two major cities so numerous restaurants and shopping venues are no more than 30 minutes away.
Applicant needs to be proficient in small animal internal medicine and routine small animal surgeries. The applicant also needs to communicate well with the staff and clients in person, by telephone and in written forms/records.
High volume mixed animal practice, with five doctors. We are located in Bedford which is in southwest Virginia. Lots of outdoor activities close by. Great small town with vibrant downtown but two large cities close by. We see limited amounts of after hours calls (2 SA emergency clinics close by). We have senior vet students from VA Tech on a regular basis so mentoring a young graduate is not a... problem. Doctors work one weekend a month and are on call one night a week. We have in house blood machines, a new ultrasound, and digital xray. We do a lot of reproduction work with canines, and have a high volume of small animal surgeries daily. Sadly we are losing a lot of our farms due to the encroachment of the cities but we still provide veterinary care to the remaining farmers and back yard horse owners. We also see goats, sheep, pot belly pigs and alpacas.
