The American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF), a national not-for-profit foundation headquartered in Schaumburg, IL, is seeking an Assistant Manager of Programs and Operations.
The AVMF is the charitable arm of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the national not-for-profit association founded in 1863 and currently representing over 89,000 veterinarians nationwide. For over 50 years, the AVMF has been dedicated to the mission of embracing and advancing the well-being and medical care of animals. Charitable contributions and support to the AVMF help veterinarians provide care to animals.
The Assistant Manager of Programs and Operations will report to the Senior Manager of Programs and Operations. This position will be responsible for assisting with the creation, implementation, and evaluation of the AVMF programs, along with assisting the Executive Director with the operations of the Foundation. Responsibilities include working collaboratively with the AVMF staff, committees, and volunteers in support of the application, distribution, and evaluation of the AVMF grants scholarships; managing multiple community service projects through the Our Oath in Action program; and managing the Veterinary Care Charitable Fund program. Operational responsibilities include gathering information from scholarship and grant recipients to be used for reports and marketing/communications; assisting in AVMF income and expense tracking; and helping solicit support of the AVMF programs.
A bachelor’s degree, with a minimum of 3 years of program management and/or grants administration experience in a non-profit environment, or equivalent, is required. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, including the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals. We require working experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office, databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) and program development. A successful candidate must be highly organized with extreme attention to detail, and able to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. The flexibility to work outside of regular business hours is required. Up to 5% occasional travel.
