Elk Park Animal Hospital in Pagosa Springs, Colorado is seeking a second veterinarian to help with an ever growing practice. We are a full coverage veterinary practice in the San Juan Mountains serving large and small animals, in clinic appointments and farm calls, performing surgeries and routine exams, and working with both Western and Eastern medicine. Our small clinic is the only emergency veterinary hospital in the area and has seen substantial growth in the last years and we are looking to expand. DVM or equivalent degree and all necessary licenses including DEA. Ability to work with both large and small animals in both a clinic and field setting. Ability to be available for on call periods during evenings and weekends. Some knowledge of or experience with Chinese herbal medicines and acupuncture is preferred.
Additional Salary Information: Salary dependent upon experience and part time vs full time status.

In 1984, he graduated from Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and began large and small animal practice in Vermont until selling that Northeastern practice in 2012 to relocate to Pagosa Springs.Many years ago, his training in acupuncture and herbal medicine began and has flourished as an important facet of day-to-day practice here in Southwestern Colorado. Elk Park Animal Hospital is a truly integrative veterinary practice, utilizing traditional Western medicine and surgery and these complementary diagnostic and treatment modalities as needed and appropriate on a case-by-case basis. Dr. Thompson has had the opportunity to lecture in China and has authored professional articles and a textbook chapter related to both acupuncture and herbal medicine, as well as regularly teaching at the famed Chi Institute of Traditional Chinese Veterinary medicine in Florida.
