Animal Emergency & Critical Care of Lynchburg is seeking a full-time veterinarian. We are NOT board-owned or corporation-owned. We are full service to small animals. If you want to see avians, exotics, or small pocket pets great! If not, no worries you don’t have to!
We have a 2 week rotating schedule, which is a mixture of days, nights, and a few days off- allowing for 9 days off in a row after the two weeks (no call). Our vets work 17.5 weeks out of the year. We are a nights, weekends, & holiday practice.
We see about 4500 cases a year, with the typical mix of minor problems and complicated surgical and medical cases. If your time is not filled with surgery or appointments- it can be used to sleep, play on our x-box, read for fun, catch up on Netflix, or if you want- you can read a journal and catch up on threads on VIN.
Let’s get down to the nitty gritty- Salary is a base (determined by experience) or percentage of gross, whichever is higher. Past associates have easily made 100k-150k+. We have a uniform allowance, vision, health, dental, and life insurance. Retirement plan with up to 3% match on base, 3k CE allowance, employee-owned pet discount that extends to pets of immediate family, VIN membership, AVMA, VECCS, PLIT, PVMA, VVMA, and VA license fee. Relocation allowance is available if needed. Angel fund... yeah, we don’t have one. If it’s tugging at your heart strings- the manager is going to say yes to Tx 99% of the time. Nothing makes a job more miserable then to hear that the fund is used up. 1 back up vet during the first 6 months can be provided to help with surgical cases you are not confident handling by yourself.
AECC is fully equipped with IV & IV syringe pumps, anesthesia ventilators, oxygen cages, full monitoring (including capnography and direct BP), DR rads, ultrasound with doppler, video endoscopy, electrosurgery, ligasure, full lab including blood gases & coags. Something missing from the list? Don’ t worry our eBay/equipment junkie will buy it for you… in fact he will probably buy 3 of what you want!
We are a licensed tech team with only 1 employee that is not licensed or in school to become licensed. Doctors NEVER discuss money or go over estimates with clients- our LVT’s will take care of that & we have extremely low A/R. We consider our greatest asset to be our amazing staff! We have super low turnover & most of our staff has been with us 10+ years.
Lynchburg is a really nice place to live. We are 1 hour away from Smith Mountain Lake and 1 hour away from Wintergreen Ski Resort. Located near the beautiful James River. With a renovated downtown & a low cost of living- it’s like Charlottesville but without all of the traffic, crazy real estate prices, and pretentious people.
Interested?!? We would love to talk to you, no matter what your level of experience is.
Internship or emergency experience preferred but not required. New graduates welcome to apply.
Additional Salary Information: Base salary plus a percentage of gross paid quarterly
