HealthPointe Veterinary Clinic, a well-established and high-quality general and exotic practice, seeks to add a Veterinary Assistant to our friendly team. Our hospital boasts an enjoyable working environment with great leadership and excellent support staff. We are dedicated to active learning and advanced medical procedures and our Technicians and Assistants play an integral role in providing excellent medical care to our patients and customer service to our clients.

This is a full-time position with a flexible schedule however rotating Saturday shifts will be required. Candidates must have experience in the following areas: surgical assistance, pharmacy duties, lab work, radiology, monitoring of patients, maintaining anesthetized patients and handling medical records.

  • Provide compassionate care to patients and clients.
  • Conduct oneself in a confident and professional manner even when stressed and/or focused on individual tasks.
  • Legibly keep accurate medical records, prepare estimates and explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions.
  • Effectively restrain pets – even when large or difficult.
  • Understands all vaccinations and vaccination protocols and can explain to clients.
  • Understands usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and can readily explain them to the clients.
  • Has the ability to lift 40 pounds
  • Equally share weekend shifts and holidays.
  • Perform clinical laboratory procedures such as fecal flotation exams, heartworm checks, skin scrapings, urinalysis and fungal cultures. Draws blood for laboratory analysis, maintain file of lab test results and ensures that they are recorded in patient records.
  • Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees.
  • Must strive to foster the client/pet/clinic bond and relationship.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
