It is a growing practice with 7 veterinarians and 7 support personnel including qualified nurses and experienced administration staff. It has a predominantly thoroughbred client base but also a significant and growing sport horse sector. Full surgical and diagnostic services include: digital radiography, ultrasound, video and dynamic endoscopy, arthroscopy and shared gamma scintigraphy. The practice also has a modern purpose built Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
The internship is intended for new or recent graduates with an interest in equine medicine and surgery. The role is structured over a 12 – 18 month period and will start in July 2019. It is designed to prepare the individual for advanced equine practice or used as a stepping stone towards a residency program elsewhere. The first six months is predominantly hospital based and includes primary responsibility for all routine anesthesia and care of in patients with the nursing staff. Thereafter the intern will be expected to undertake an increasing amount of routine ambulatory work under the guidance of more senior veterinarians within the practice.
There will be plenty of opportunities to develop skills in elective and emergency anaesthesia, reproduction and medicine including expanding skill sets in neonatal care. Similarly there is an ample opportunity to develop skills in lameness diagnosis, radiography, ultrasound scanning, performance and sports medicine and endoscopy. Within the practice there is scope to tailor the internship to develop skills in individual areas of interest and continuing education is well supported.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who will share our goal of providing top level veterinary care. If this sounds like you, please apply with a covering letter, current CV and include two references to:
