Emory University's School of Medicine Division of Animal Resources (DAR) is seeking a Veterinary Technician II to join the Large Animal Surgical Services team!
Under general supervision, this position assists the veterinarians and researchers in surgery and radiology, animal care, treatments, and diagnostic and preventative procedures. The Vet Tech II will also be responsible for maintaining medical records and inventory, and provide non-surgical technical assistance to researchers as directed.
The daily responsibilities include:
Providing direct support for large animal (e.g. pigs, sheep, rabbits, and other small animals) anesthetic and surgical events associated with the DAR service.
Providing technical assistance for animal procedures not directly associated with large animal surgical services.
Assisting with management and maintenance of large animal surgery areas and equipment.
Providing large animal post-operative and clinical care; participating in the weekend and holiday on-call rotation schedule with DAR treatment/triage veterinary staff.
Managing DAR rodent surgery rooms.
Providing clinical care for non-large animals as needed, and other related duties as assigned.
The finalist selected for this position must meet qualifications to drive Emory University vehicle(s) and meet physical demands of job duties such as standing for extended periods and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
A high school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience as a veterinary technician, OR
A high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience as an animal care technician, OR
Graduation from a two-year veterinary technician program and one year of veterinary technician experience.
Experience managing veterinary anesthesia.
Additional Salary Information: Salary commensurate with experience, minimum $16.83/hour.
