Job Title: Vice President, Medical Operations (VPMO)
Reports to: Chief Veterinary Officer (CVO)
Purpose of the Job
The VPMO of Mission Veterinary Partners (MVP) will provide the day to day oversight of medical operations within MVP clinics. This position is responsible for developing MVP’s Standard of Care and provides strategic direction to Area Medical Directors, Hospital Medical Directors/Leads, and DVM’s within the MVP family to ensure safe, consistent, efficient, therapeutic and ethical patient care. The VPMO will collaborate with direct reports and the clinical medical team in implementation of management strategies to increase pet care visits, per client transaction (PCT) maximization and appropriate charge capture, and that revenue goals are achieved. This position provides opportunities to speak publicly at Universities, Trade Shows, and provide Continuing Education. Up to 40% travel will be required in the role. The VPMO understands they will wear many hats and will be passionate about clinical excellence, leadership, and advocating for the growth of MVP.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.
Direct Report Development and Management, (33% of Time)
Area Medical Directors (AMD) and the Director of Clinic Acquisition and Mergers (DCAM) will report into the VPMO. This position has full supervisory responsibility for recruitment, hiring, retention, performance development, and management. To work with CVO on developing salary strategies, incentive plan creation, disciplinary actions, and terminations of direct reports.
Collaborate with AMD’s and the clinical medical team in implementation of management strategies to increase pet care visits, per client transaction (PCT) maximization and appropriate charge capture, and revenue goals are achieved.
VPMO will supervise and work closely with the Director of Clinic Acquisitions and Mergers and Area Medical Directors to create a plan for newly acquired clinic transition into the MVP family.
Help direct reports overcome any organizational obstacles encountered
Develop and foster a positive, fulfilling work environment
Initiate strategic educational program development to ensure teammates remain up to date on Mission Veterinary Partners policies, new laws and regulations impacting work, and other information necessary to provide knowledgeable, accurate care
Clinical Architect, (33% of Time)
Review, analyze, and address gaps in clinical and client service excellence, policies, and/or procedures proactively; identify issues and work with AMD’s, MD/ML’s to implement solutions
Work with the Medical Advisory Board and collaborate with those individuals to develop and if necessary, implement conversions to supplies, vendors and capital equipment within MVP clinics.
Lead the creation and implementation of DVM development processes and succession planning including mentoring, coaching, training, scholastic development, compassion fatigue abatement and modeling appropriate leadership behaviors.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and DEA regulations
Lead the business in controlled substance compliance and control.
Support AMD’s and DCAM’s clinic business plan strategy and development
Clinical Teams (33% of Time)
Lead the business development process for identifying post close improvement to clinical operations
Plan and conduct internal and external (vendor led) Continuing Education Events for Doctors and Team (Semi-Annually+)
MVP Liaison to recruitment at Veterinary Colleges (regional)
MVP Liaison to recruitment of DVM’s from our competitors
Promote, design and supervise internship, externship and mentorship programs to ensure a positive experience for students
Ensure ample communication of hot topics in the news (i.e. pet food recalls, outbreaks, etc.) and provide educational pieces for team (i.e. Canine Influenza)
Develop positive work relationships with all levels of management and other departments; work collaboratively with field management, legal, finance, and business development
Collaborate with marketing and business operations to develop clientele management strategies including retention, ACT maximization, reminder system management and client care improvements
(Education, licenses, certifications, and experience required to fulfill the essential duties, include computer skills as required)
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine; Clinic ownership and leadership required
Minimum of 3 years’ progressive management experience required
Demonstrated track record of successful fiscal and operating management; demonstrated financial expertise
Demonstrated experience in planning and managing at strategic and operational levels
Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to perform successfully the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.

Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities:
Ability to lift minimum of 2 pounds to a maximum of 20 pounds unassisted; able to sit stand, stoop, walk, stretch, reach frequently; moderate range of body motions.
Ability to hear and interact by phone and in person clearly and efficiently and to make presentations. Ability to use computer and all peripherals efficiently
