American Preclinical Services (APS) is a preclinical research organization focused on helping clients find the medical solutions that benefit both humans and animals. We have veterinary technician openings for three different positions - surgical technician, large animal research technician, and preparation/recovery technician.
The Surgical Technician position provides care for laboratory animals during surgical procedures, and provides assistance to clients as needed in support of interventional and surgical studies.
The Large Animal Research Technician position provides care for laboratory animals before and after surgical procedures, including ongoing monitoring, data collection and providing for their basic needs. This role is currently hiring for the evening shift and overnight shift.
The Preparation/Recovery Technician position provides care for laboratory animals during surgical preparation and surgical recovery in support of interventional and surgical studies.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in related veterinary field (Animal Science, Veterinary Technology or Biology), or the LAT certification is required, and a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) certification is preferred.
• Experience working with and handling large animals is required. Experience prepping and monitoring animals before and during surgery is strongly preferred for the prep/recovery technician and surgical technician roles.
• Experience in a laboratory setting is preferred, however knowledge of research animal physiology, pharmacology, and general animal care required.
