Petaluma Equine Sports Medicine and Surgery is seeking applicants for two week, equine hospital and ambulatory externships. Based in Sonoma County, about an hour North of San Francisco, Petaluma Equine is a hospital-based group practice consisting of nine veterinarians including a board-certified radiologist and surgeon. The primary case load of the practice is sports medicine, general practice, surgery, and racetrack medicine. We see a variety of horses and work with all disciplines and breeds. In addition to a fully equipped operating room, the facility has digital radiography, ultrasound, digital endoscopy, standing MRI and a complete rehabilitation facility.
Externs can expect see and assist with a variety of cases as well as participate in weekly journal club. The externship is designed to offer exposure with a variety of veterinarians and cases; including ambulatory, surgery, lameness, rehabilitation and emergency.
Housing is provided on site. Petaluma is located in the heart of wine country, surrounded by rolling hills and just inland from the Pacific Ocean.
