West Hills Animal Hospital & Emergency Center and the Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care is looking to fill the remainder of our internship program. This unique opportunity will provide a comprehensive internship experience. The internship will focus on general practice, intensive care, and emergency medicine with a rotation through various specialty disciplines. West Hills Animal Hospital & Emergency Center, Long Island's largest general practice, is directly affiliated with a brand new specialty center, Gold Coast Center for Veterinary Care. With 25+ LVT's and a 24 hour doctor staff, there will always be professional colleagues on staff to guide interns through the process of becoming outstanding clinicians.
The intern will spend time in the ICU focusing on in-patient management, will be seeing daytime and overnight emergency cases under the supervision of our experienced veterinarians, and rotate through our Cardiology, Dermatology, Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Theriogenology, and Physical Rehabilitation services. By the time the internship starts, we hope to have other specialists on staff with whom the intern will also spend time.
Our heavy caseload will expose our interns to an extraordinarily diverse group of medical and surgical patients. Our hospital is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic modalities including a complete in-house laboratory, digital radiography (general and dental), CT unit, two ultrasound machines, endoscopy, laparoscopy (including thorascopy, arthroscopy, cystoscopy, rhinoscopy), blood bank, telemedicine capability and more. Our interns will also have the ability to learn and perform general practice surgical procedures, something they will not get to do at many other internships.
Interns will participate in, and eventually lead, daily rounds within the hospital. There will be regularly scheduled lectures by our staff to help the interns continue to learn and grow.
