Associate Veterinarian – McAllen, TX

Pet Doctor 911 seeking confident and skilled Veterinarians to join our growing team. Animal Medical Center of McAllen is a full-service 24-hour veterinary hospital, staffed and equipped to offer general veterinary care and emergency critical care, for small animals. Non-emergency services provided at Animal Medical Center of McAllen include routine health exams, preventative care, reproductive services, vaccinations, and general surgery.  Our staff to Veterinarian ratio is over 12:1.

The hospital is an energetic, fast paced, and fun work environment with a large support staff as well as new diagnostic equipment including digital radiology, dental radiograph, 2 ultrasound machines, 2 full in-house laboratories(Idexx), laser therapy, dentistry equipment, oxygen kennels, multiple anesthetic monitoring units, blood gasses, coagulation analyses, extensive pharmacy, and more.

This is an expanding practice that serves small animals and some exotics. We currently have 6 Veterinarians on our team and we are always interested in bringing in new associates or relief veterinarians to join our growing practice. 

At Animal Medical Center of McAllen, we offer day to day mentorship for new graduates as well as offering professional support for experienced veterinarians. We recognize the need to assist our new team members with transitioning into a new job and becoming acclimated in their position as well as with the local pathologies. Guidance with technical or public relation issues is readily available and we believe that by providing this support that we increase the level of satisfaction that ultimately leads to a higher quality of patient care. We have 2 full-time Client Care Specialists as well as an excellent management team to support you at all times and help with dealing with non-medical issues so you don’t have to.

Compensation/Benefits:

• $200,000 Base Salary + Production Options Available (Average pay for full-time veterinarians is +350,000k)

Our practice is located in beautiful McAllen, Texas. The local opportunities for entertainment, dining, shopping, and recreation are vast in this tropical south Texas city. McAllen and the Rio Grande Valley area are rapidly developing while providing the unique feel of a small town with all the conveniences of a large city. The weather is often bright and sunny year-round with a very mild winter season.

A beach getaway or weekend fishing trip to South Padre Island is just over an hour away.  Activities such as surfing, fishing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, sunbathing, swimming, concerts, dolphin watch cruises, and Space X rocket launches are sure to keep you and your family entertained. 

Two international airports in the area, located in McAllen & Harlingen, make traveling easy. Direct flights are available to Houston, Austin, Dallas, Las Vegas, Denver, Minneapolis, and Mexico City with more being added frequently. This is a great opportunity for relief Veterinarians who want to stay where they currently live but still work with us.

McAllen and the surrounding areas have many outdoor parks, green spaces, public swimming pools, dog parks, bicycle and running trails. There are many opportunities for bird and butterfly watching expeditions, as well as several golf courses. Housing and the cost of living are also excellent in the area and McAllen, Texas has been among the fastest growing cities in the country. To top it off, the Mexican food is delicious and authentic.
