Upstate Veterinary Specialties, PLLC is a growing, privately-owned specialty and emergency practice located in upstate New York.  As a privately owned hospital, the practice owners are active clinicians who take a team approach to manage the hospital.  They make themselves accessible to the staff and are dedicated to making UVS the ideal veterinary practice for employees.

Our clinicians are supported by highly educated licensed veterinary technicians, assistants, and client relations specialists. We have an on-site and diverse leadership team and a full-service administrative department.

Our Facility

Our hospital is a custom-built, 40,000-square-foot facility. Our hospital also includes a 1.5T MRI, 64 slice CT scanner with power injector, digital x-ray, underwater treadmill, multi-parameter telemetry, endoscopy suite, multiple surgery suites, full diagnostic laboratory, in-house pharmacy, and everything else you could want to practice high-quality medicine.

Our Location

Our hospital is located between Albany and Saratoga Springs, a lively and energetic region that balances our historical roots with a vibrant metropolitan atmosphere. The growing area is centrally located between the Adirondack, Catskill, and Berkshire mountains and the cities of Boston, New York, and Montreal. Our location offers easy access to public transportation with Amtrak stations and the nearby Albany international airport.

The area's attractions include the Empire State Plaza, Saratoga State Park, Racetrack and Performing Arts Center, Lake George, Thatcher Park, The New York State Museum, and more. Schedules:

• Full-time, 12 shifts every four weeks including a rotation with day, swing, overnight and weekend shifts
• Full-time, 9 shifts of overnight 5pm-6am every four weeks
• Part-time, 8 shifts every four weeks, include part-time benefits

Specialization involves a residency program encompassing multiple years of additional training, caseload requirements, and a series of rigorous exams culminating in board certification. Specialists who have completed this training and passed all certifying examinations become Diplomates of their respective specialty colleges and are considered experts in their field. At UVS, we embrace collegiality across multiple specialties creating optimal care for our patients. Emergency Care: Emergency veterinarians are veterinarians trained in emergency medicine and critical illnesses. Emergency veterinarians possess advanced skills to evaluate trauma and injury and perform intensive care unit procedures and life-saving interventions. This team masters critical thinking and has exceptional skills to remain calm in a high-paced environment. Our emergency department is staffed with three full-time board-certified criticalists, a complement of emergency doctors, and an advanced support staff. Our History: Upstate Veterinary Specialties was established in 2003 as a cardiology referral practice and over the years expanded to offer referral services in several other specialties. In 2015 UVS expanded to our custom-built facility and opened our 24/7 emergency and critical care service. In 2020 UVS expanded our hospital, nearly doubling our footprint to continue to provide exceptional veterinary care to our community. Over the years, UVS has grown to be the region’s largest multi-specialty referral and emergency hospital with a network of the finest veterinary professionals.
